Wally Dog Wear wants to be a fun stop on your web-surfing route so we've decided to add some things pet lovers might enjoy -- such as
dog treat recipes.
CHEESIES
(Biscuits for Dogs and People!)

  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/4 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (Cracker Barrel is delicious!)
  • 1 stick butter or margarine
  • 1 clove garlic --crushed
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1/4 cup Milk --or as needed

Grate the cheese into a bowl and let stand until it reaches room temperature. Cream the cheese with the softened margarine, garlic, salt
and flour. Add just enough milk to form into a log.*

Chill for 1/2 hour.

Slice into 1/4" pieces.  Place on parchment paper and bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until slightly brown.

*If you'd like to use cookie cutters, bone shapes are great!, chill then roll on a floured surface.  Cut out and bake as above.

Yield: 24 biscuits

For people:  Add a dash of cayenne pepper and top each biscuit with a pecan half.  This is how Great Grandma did it!
WALLY WOW BISCUITS

  • 2 1/2  cups whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk
  • 1/2 t. salt (optional-may leave out if using salty bacon)
  • 1/2 t. garlic powder
  • 8 T bacon grease or margarine
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 t. brown sugar
  • 2 T broth (any flavor)
  • 1/2 cup ice water
  • 6 slices bacon (optional) cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup cheddar cheese (optional) shredded

In a large mixing bowl, cream together the bacon grease (or margarine) and egg.  Add dry ingredients, bacon, and cheese.  Mixture will be
dry.  Slowly mix in the broth and ice water.  (If you don't use cold water, you must chill the mixture).  Roll the dough out on a floured surface
and use a cookie cutter.  Bake biscuits at 350 degrees for 20 - 25 minutes or until biscuits are slightly brown.
WALLY DOG'S PARTY MIX

  • 2 c Cheerios®
  • 2 c Rice Chex®
  • 2 c Wheat Chex®
  • 2 c Shredded Wheat® spoon size
  • 2 c Cheese Nips®
  • 1 T dry gravy mix
  • 1/2 c melted butter or margarine
  • 1/2 c parmesan cheese, grated

Melt butter.  Add dry gravy mix and stir until the mix is wet.  Place cereals and nips in a paper bag (or large bowl).  Pour flavored butter over
dry ingredients, including parmesan cheese.  Shake bag (or stir) until cereals and nips are coated.  Spread on a cookie sheet that has
been greased or covered with parchment paper.  Bake in 250 degree oven for approximately 45 minutes or until mix is crisp.   Flip mix
with a spatula about half way through baking time.
